Moderation Policy
Last updated: March 2024
Overview
Vanyx uses community moderation to maintain a high-signal, respectful environment. This policy explains how moderation works, what content may be removed, and how to report violations.
Moderation Approach
No pre-approval required: Posts are published immediately. Moderation happens after posting through community reporting and moderator review.
Community reporting: Users can report posts and comments that violate our Code of Conduct or Terms of Service.
Moderator review: Reported content is reviewed by moderators, who decide whether to remove it or take other action.
Content Removal
Content may be removed for:
- Violations of the Code of Conduct (harassment, hate speech, doxxing, etc.)
- Violations of Terms of Service (illegal content, spam, etc.)
- Low-signal content that doesn't contribute to the discussion
- Off-topic posts that belong in a different category
- Duplicate posts or spam
- Content that misrepresents official Vanyx research
Enforcement Actions
When violations occur, moderators may take the following actions:
- Warning: First-time minor violations may result in a warning
- Content removal: Posts or comments may be removed
- Temporary suspension: Accounts may be suspended for a period of time
- Permanent ban: Repeated or severe violations may result in a permanent ban
Repeat Offenders
Users who repeatedly violate the Code of Conduct or Terms of Service face escalating consequences:
- First violation: Warning and content removal
- Second violation: Temporary suspension (1-7 days)
- Third violation: Longer suspension (1-4 weeks)
- Fourth violation or severe violations: Permanent ban
Severity and context are considered. Severe violations (harassment, hate speech, illegal content) may result in immediate suspension or ban.
Reporting Process
To report a violation:
- Click the "Report" button on the post or comment
- Select the reason for reporting
- Optionally provide additional context
- Submit the report
Reports are reviewed by moderators, typically within 24-48 hours. You may not receive a direct response, but action will be taken if the report is valid.
Appeals
If you believe your content was removed or your account was suspended in error, you can appeal by contacting us through the Contact page.
Appeals are reviewed by administrators. Decisions are typically made within 1 week.
Moderator Guidelines
Moderators are expected to:
- Apply policies consistently and fairly
- Consider context and intent
- Explain removal decisions when appropriate
- Escalate severe violations to administrators
- Maintain confidentiality of reports
